Gecko Book Store Policies

NO BARGAINING:

Our prices are marked on the books and are non-negotiable. Please do not embarrass yourself by attempting to bargain with our staff as they can not alter prices and the owner will say no - every time - without exception. If you do not like the price, do not buy the book.

NO REFUNDS:

Book stores in Thailand do not allow refunds after purchase for many different reasons.

Please feel free to open books that you are buying and examine them thoroughly in the store before paying to make sure that they are what you want and that you are happy with your purchase.

RETURNED USED BOOKS:

You will normally receive 50% cash or credit on returned used books in the same condition for one month after purchase. "Bargain Books" are not included.

In truth, most books can be returned for half price for about 3 months - as long as they don't lose value - but that is at our discretion. Very new titles lose value quickly as they start to flood the market and the price goes down. These are the books that we must be the most strict about.

RETURNED NEW BOOKS:

We buy back new books back at our discretion and normally pay 50% of what we will sell them at as used books.

BUYING BOOKS:

For newer, POPULAR titles in good condition we usually pay about 50% of what we will sell them for and we are known for paying more than other bookshops in Thailand.

Naturally, the books that bring the highest prices are the "special" ones that people want to keep for themselves. We don't pay a lot for junk. If they are dirty, stained, broken, pirated copies, "great" books that no one but you has ever heard of, or just very common books that we have 100's of copies of already (old John Grisham and Patricia Cornwell) we will offer you what we think they are worth to us. If you are not happy with our price - no problem - keep them.
